Stop Eminent Domain Abuse
Welcome to "Stop Eminent Domain Abuse"
Welcome to Stop Eminent Domain Abuse. If you have reached this site, you obviously have an interest in eminent domain and its abuse. On this site you’ll find a wealth of information about how the federal government delegates authority to utility companies to invoke eminent domain. This right is granted by the “taking clause” in the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Currently, however, renewable energy companies transmitting wind and solar power across high-voltage direct current lines (HVDC) are abusing eminent domain by seizing land without regard for landowners’ rights or state and federal law.
Let me introduce myself. I’m Tammy Hammond, the CEO of Rosewood Services, Inc., which serves the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled population of Kansas. Over the years, I and my business have been impacted by an electric transmission project called Grain Belt Express (GBE or GBX). The project is run by Invenergy Transmission LLC, which has coerced landowners and farmers to sign easement agreements that frequently render their land unusable and their homes unlivable.
Grain Belt Express passes over acreage on which Rosewood Services is located, and Invenergy has not expressed interest in how its project threatens the vulnerable population I serve as a healthcare provider. In fighting GBE, I learned that thousands of citizens in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois have also been impacted and have rallied to keep the use of land that has been in their families for generations.
My research on the topic of eminent domain and its abuse has been extensive. On this website I share a wealth of information about eminent domain, GBE, Invenergy, and the way the federal government is allowing renewable energy companies to steamroll ordinary citizens to surrender the use of their land with little recourse for justice.
On this site, you will learn the following (and much more) through online articles, YouTube videos, blogs, newspaper articles, a book I wrote called We the People and Eminent Domain, and a deep dive into the unethical and illegal business practices employed by companies like Grain Belt Express and Invenergy.
What eminent domain is and how it is abused
How land is condemned if one refuses to sign an eminent domain easement agreement
Federal laws that govern the permitting and construction of long-distance HVDC lines and how those laws are being violated
Your rights if you wish to challenge eminent domain
The many challenges to GBE and Invenergy by landowners as well as state and federal legislators
How overhead HVDC lines threaten the environment and human health
How just financial compensation for the use of land has been denied
How a method called co-location would safely bury the HVDC lines and render eminent domain unnecessary
Renewable, clean energy is a necessary part of 21st century technology, but companies are transmitting it using outdated 20th century technology that is ruining people’s lives and scarring the land. The government has designated ten new renewable energy corridors (called NIETCs), meaning that the issue of eminent domain abuse will become even more important as companies try to take your land for the sake of corporate greed.
I hope you will take the time to educate yourself on the facts behind eminent domain abuse and browse the many pages and links on this website. There’s strength in numbers, and only “we the people” can preserve our right to use our homes, businesses, and properties by making governments and corporations act lawfully and in the public interest.
